I found a dupe! | (Which you probably all already know about)

Sorry it's been a while.

In random news; i just cleaned my laptop screen & i can't believe how dull it was. Ew.
Probably shouldn't be saying that on the internet haaaaaa.

Okay okay, so this was a totally accidental dupe find, & as;
1. Fiji is arguably but possibly the best Essie shade and
2. Both shades have existed for a good few months,
I am probably very, very far behind on the dupe bandwagon here,
But hey; if i missed it for so long, maybe you have to!

Now I'm living with my parents for summer, i'm struggling to find cute locations to take photographs for small items!

I've had my Essie Fiji for a long time, so long in fact, its become very sticky and not very appliable anymore. (Que the nail varnish remover inside the bottle trick)
Whereas, this Barry M shade was a 3-for-2 spontaneous buy.
It wasn't until I picked both of them up I realised how similar they are,
So much so, I applied one polish on one hand, the other on the other, and you could not even tell the difference!

I do however, think there are small differences;
To keep it concise, the Barry M polish is much nicer in application, the "Gelly" aspect enables smooth application and a shiny finish. I also personally find it more opaque than Fiji!
However, for me, all Barry M polishes chip and wear faaaar to easily (I'm talking like an hour after applying) and Fiji far surpasses on wear!

But with a price difference of £4, I think the Barry M alternative is a good little option for an everyday polish!

So there we have it, my first ever dupe, found accidentally all on my own!

Did you already know about this dupe, and what your favourite brand of polish?

  1. Oooh I'm so glad I read this - I'm looking for 'smart' polishes for my grad job in Sept and Fiji was on my list - I think I'll pick up the Barry M one now instead. I don't have the same problems as you with Barry M polishes - I love them!

    I DO have the same problem with blog photos! My parents live in a small town where nothing happens/no-one has heard of a blog so if I take outfit photos I'll get weird looks so before I left my uni town I roped my friend in to help me take a month's worth of pictures so I'll have something to keep my blog going for a while!

  3. I am even later on the band wagon than you my dear!! I hadn't realised this was such a good dupe, and what makes it worse I've actually already bought two other shades at random hoping to find a dupe for Fiji!

    I've just moved back in with my parents and feel your struggle with finding cute locations for little bits and bobs to photograph. I've found picking a flower (when my mum's head is turned) and laying in the background makes it look nice and pretty :)

  4. Amazing - you can't beat a good, money-saving, dupe! I love the Barry M Gelly paints as the finish is so nice on them (strangely I've found some colours seem to chip a lot more than others). This shade looks perfect for work so I might snap it up (especially if there's a 3-for-2 deal on!).

  5. I didn't know about this dupe! Too bad I can't get Barry M nail polishes here in Germany easily. I've heard so many great things about them.
